During my last engineering school year (2014-2015), I developed, in a team of 3, my own implementation of Green coordinates deformers.
As explain in Lipman’s paper (SIGGRAPH 2008), Green deformers are a tool for animating. Instead of creating a skeleton, skinning and rigging a mesh, animators can transform an enclosing cage to deform a mesh.
This project was our first experience of Autodesk Maya’s API. This was implemented as a node with a mesh and a cage as input, and the deformed mesh as output.
Here some examples of our results.
